Incorporated in 1906, Burlington is a small but growing town in a rural setting with great schools, nice folks, and large open spaces. Parks, recreation trails and ample open space give this growing town plenty of breathing room.

New Water Billing Procedures starting April 1, 2024

Please note the Village has updated their water billing procedure and payment due date. Bills will now be due MONTHLY on the 28^th of each month.

We have also made a few changes on any bills that are past due, or not paid:

- The Due Date for future bills will have a due date of the 28^th of each month. The bills will be past due the day after the new due date.

- There will be a 3% per month late fee for all bills not paid on or before the 28^th of each month.

- If a Red Tag for Shut Off is issued there will be a $50.00 fee added to your current outstanding water bill.

- The total balance due will need to be paid in full if your water service has been terminated. You will be required to pay the Village a non-refundable reconnection fee of $100.00 and a refundable deposit of $250.00

REAL ESTATE TRANSFER STAMP REQUIREMENT

Ordinance Number 2021-5 states as of August 2, 2021, the Village of Burlington has implemented a Real Estate Transfer Stamp requirement prior to closing on the sale of property.

The Village requires a minimum of two days notification of a scheduled closing of the transfer or sale of real property to have a final inspection of the water meter and final read. Upon receipt of payment for the final amount due to the Village for water consumption, the Village will issue a Real Estate Transfer stamp which will be needed at your closing.

Residents are REQUIRED to pay their final water bill before their Stamp will be issued. There is NO FEE for the Stamp. For further information contact the Village Hall at 847-683-2237 or email The Deputy Clerk, Natalie Meisner: deputyclerk@vil.burlington.il.us
